RESPONSE TO THE BASELESS ALLEGATIONS AGAINST NORTHERN CAN LEADERSHIP BY HON. JONAH BONET-POMPO: A SELF ACCLAIMED COORDINATOR OF AN UNPOPULAR COALITION

It is with utter disbelief that one reads the so-called "open letter" authored by one Deacon Jonah Bonet (Pompo) Coordinator of an unknown and unpopular Northern CAN group,  a letter riddled with falsehoods, desperate conjectures, and outright intellectual laziness. The intent behind this feeble attempt at character assassination is clear: a desperate bid to sow confusion within the Christandom, individuals whom had been alienated for years by previous governments. With the current efforts of the Nigerian president his Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and efforts by the Kaduna state governor his Excellency Governor Ubah Sani in stabilizing the Nigerian economy and ensuring that transparent and workable systems are being put in place and especially the gains recorded in the fight against insecurity, it is for Pompo and his pay masters already glaring where Votes from Southern Kaduna, Kaduna Christians and the 19 Northern States Christians will be directed to. Hon. Jonathan Pompo now Deacon as he had claimed in his public letter wrote with a desperate intention to discredit individuals who for many years stood firmly for truth and justice within the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). However, the sheer lack of logic and the obvious political undertones of this letter demand an equally firm response as this is only an attack targeting Rev. Joseph Hayab, a loyal servant that certain dark agents now see as a threat to their evil 2027 political calculations especially that of a former Northern Governor that the so called Deacon is loyal to.

The Deacon that came out publicly to ridicule the whole Northern Christian body in other to score cheap political goal (Pompo) speaks of a "lingering leadership tussle" in CAN 19  Northern States, claiming that certain individuals have "perpetuated their dominance for over twenty years." Yet, in his exaggerated attempt at demonizing these figures, he fails to provide any evidence or context for such claims. Who are these "few individuals"? What exactly is the proof that they have held power undemocratically? This baseless generalization is typical of those who thrive on misinformation but lack the intellectual discipline to support their claims with facts.

Secondly, the attempt to tarnish the image of Rev. John Joseph Hayab is nothing short of laughable. It is in "Deacon" Pompo's view that  Rev. Joseph Hayab's election is illegal and calling for an interim Chairman  to take over the leadership of CAN in the 19 Northern States and yet conveniently ignoring the fact that CAN has established constitutional processes for leadership transition.  If indeed Rev. Joseph Hayab’s election was illegal, where is the CAN constitutional provision that was breached? Instead of quoting CAN's Constitution or providing legal basis for his argument, Pompo resorts to vague, emotionally charged rhetoric meant to manipulate unsuspecting readers.

Furthermore, Pompo in  a glaring contradiction,  attempts to use an ongoing court case between Rev. Yakubu Pam and Rev. Joseph Hayab as a rare opportunity and justification to call on the Nigerian CAN President, with demands that the election for the office of CAN Chairman (19 Northern States) be cancelled and  an interim Chairman be appointed. This move is a clear desperate attempt to subvert due process and impose an undemocratic resolution to a matter that is already being addressed  through legal channels as thesame Pompo had claimed earlier. Going by this whole ideas, one can deduce that Rev. Joseph Hayab's capacity of giving clear and purposeful directions to his followers is what most Northern politicians will evil intentions fear. It is evident that Deacon Hon. Jonah Bonet (Pompo) is merely serving as a tool in the hands of political actors who fear that Rev. Joseph Hayab's leadership might block  their selfish interests and  terrible ambitions come 2027.

Moreover, the claim that Rev. Joseph Hayab is a "desperate power monger" is not only unfounded but exposes the intellectual shallowness of Pompo’s argument. Rev. Hayab’s track record of service to the Northern Christian community as Kaduna State CAN Chairman during Former Kaduna State Governor Nasiru Elrufai's government speaks for itself. He has been a voice for the oppressed, standing against persecution and speaking truth to power, even when it was dangerous to do so. *Unlike some of this guys, whose relevance is solely tied to carrying out "hit jobs for expired politicians"*, Rev. Joseph Hayab’s leadership is built on years of principled service. The most disgraceful aspect of Pompo’s letter is the hypocritical demand for "sanity in the body of Christ. How does Hon. Pompo intend to restore "sanity" by advocating for an unconstitutional, autocratic appointment of an interim chairman, bypassing due process? This is nothing but a reckless dictatorial proposition that has no place in any credible Christian organization.

In conclusion, it is clear that Pompo’s so-called "coalition" is nothing but a phantom group with no identity, propped up by individuals desperate to reclaim lost political relevance. His letter is a textbook example of a hatchet job, poorly written, logically inconsistent, unsound and completely devoid of merit. Rev. John Joseph Hayab remains a respected leader who has the backing of all CAN leaders and many *"right-thinking Christians"* in Northern Nigeria. If Jonah Bonet Pompo and his sponsors or supporters have any real grievances, they should follow due process which am sure POMPO if truly he is a *DEACON"* knows very well  rather than resorting to childish propaganda in public space. Pompo’s letter should be dismissed as the empty rantings of a man who has traded integrity for political crumbs. The Christian community is too enlightened to fall for such petty and baseless machinations heard towards rendering Northern Christians voiceless and confuse before, during and after the 2027 general election.
